Dan is the owner and driving force behind The Lodge at Circle J. He was born & raised right here in the heart of Missouri’s big whitetails country. He started hunting with his Dad when he was just a young boy and the passion for hunting and conservation only grew. He has shared this passion with his children and many friends.

Dan previously owned & operated Cedar Hill Outfitters, an upland game bird hunters dream. He has also guided for close to 20 years, prior to deciding to breakout on his own and build The Lodge at Circle J. When he isn’t working here at The Lodge, Dan is building pole barns for our local farmers. In his spare time – which he doesn’t have much of; Dan enjoys looking for arrowheads. He has quite the collection and has even found a tomahawk! 

Sherrill – Party of FIVE! David is more than just a guide…husband to his beautiful wife Val and Daddy to THREE amazingly beautiful young ladies. He was born and raised just up the road from The Lodge. Being a local and avid archery hunter – he knows the ins and outs of this land and the habits of the whitetail that live here. David also puts the smack down on the coyote population in the winter months. When David isn’t hunting, he is a hard working cattle farmer and owns Sherrill Construction.

You may have caught David on an episode of Midwest Whitetails….he’s pretty famous in these parts!

Anna – Currently studying for her Dental Hygiene degree at Iowa Central… but when she is home she is our go to gal for guiding! We tried to talk her into doing online college so she could help at The Lodge more…but she decided to spread her wings and go to school 3 hours from home. She knows our farms like the back of her hand. Anna has been hunting with Dan since she could climb into the backseat of his truck. Her passion is turkeys, and she can work a call better than most. If we need a deer tracked…she is our eyes! This girl will comb an area and come up with a pin drop of blood and hound dog that track until she finds another!

Cowboy – The Man…The Myth…The Legend! …otherwise known as Bill is a LONG-time hunter and friend from Michigan. If it can be hunted in the continental united states…this man has done it! The stories and the knowledge gained from Cowboy’s adventures is unprecedented. Married for almost 50 years to his patient and beautiful wife Sheryl. When not out here in Missouri guiding – Cowboy and Sheryl own and operate a nuisance trapping service and Cowboys Barn-wood Creations….making gorgeous home décor and furnishing from antique barn-wood.

Iowa Dave is from parts north of The Lodge…not too far north but just over the Iowa line. Originally from Pennsylvania, Dave moved to these parts in 2014. Dave & his beautiful wife, Jenifer have 2 sons and are Iowa’s only tobacco farmers. Dave helps us a lot during turkey season and is a great help scouting properties for optimal hunting spots. You will find Dave in the timber, either archery hunting or trapping during the colder months. When Dave isn’t hunting, he is working side by side with Jen on their cattle farm or in the tobacco fields.
